Post Production - Bad Pumpkin

I'm currently finishing up post production for the director's cut of Bad Pumpkin.  Just need to do a re-edit.   I've had to cut one of my babies with the opening scene. As much as I liked it as written, the final product didn't do it justice.  It really boiled to location.  I could reshoot it but at this point I don't believe the effort to do that would add much to the story. It's a horror comedy and taking out a couple chuckles at the beginning and getting right to the story is the better way to go.

"Bad Pumpkin"

Pre-production has begun on, "Bad Pumpkin", a short film that we decided to put together at the last minute. The last short film we put together at the last minute didn't turn out as expected.
The story is horror/comedy about a couple who pick out a haunted pumpkin that terrorizes those who do not celebrate Halloween.
The plan is to shoot sometime this month which is an extremely short timeline.

Tulsa - Kinship

I'm headed to the Tulsa International Film Fest (TIFF) here soon. I must say they've rolled out the red carpet even though it's their first year.  Let you know how it shows.  Not much else to report....except...

What an honor!

Underneath Cincinnati Finals!

Well, as the last few film festivals make there decision I  have some mixed news on Kinship our flagship short film.  It got into the finals of Underneath Cincinnati where it will compete head to head with the other 8 films from the 2010 - 2011 season. Very exciting!

However, some festival I took a chance on rejected us, our first rejection.  Cincinnati International Film Festival regretfully did not select Kinship this year.  Oh well, can't win them all.

Two More Film Festivals!

Well Kinship is doing rather well getting in the film festival circuit.  Added two more to the tally: Underneath Cincinnati and Rumschpringe Short Film Festival.  I'm truly honored that this short film is getting the opportunity to play in front of a live audience.   I will attending Underneath Cincinnati on Wed night.

While I really wanted to go to Grand Rapids, I didn't realize it was during the week. Unfortunately we did not win Best Short and I'm not sure how well it was received but it played 3 times which is amazing in itself!

What a great honor, the city where I was born. KINSHIP is an Official Selection to the Grand Rapids Film Festival.  And the crowd rejoiced.  I'd like to thank the cast and crew again for all their hard work, I couldn't have done it without them.  We did it you guys again!!

"Disbanded" Placed 5th!

My feature length screenplay Disbanded garnered a 5th place finish at the 2011 International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival Screenplay Competition. 

Honestly, it's not too shabby for my first ever screenplay.  You can read an older version here - Disbanded

Yes it's a cliche zombie flick but that was my intent.

Pre-production has begun on a short film, "The Thick Window", written by the very talented Kyle Patrick Johnson. The script won 1st place in the peer judged MoviePoet.com contest last year.


It's a poignant drama about a father and daughter who survive in a small underground bunker after a cataclysmic world event. 


We plan to shoot in late-March, with a release date in summer 2011.
